“L-Sit Challenge”
Three attempts to determine the PCF L-Sit Champion

” Burpee-Wall Ball Challenge”
Teams of two will play five two-minute rounds for max reps.
Teammates will stand shoulder-to-shoulder. One partner will perform a wall ball toss off the wall to their partner and immediately perform one burpee. Teams will repeat for as many reps as possible, counting only those reps in which the ball clears the 10-foot target and is caught before touching the ground. There will be a two-minute rest period between each of the five rounds.

What is the weight for the wall balls?

  2. Guch

When are we gonna play mini mini banana?

  3. Rich S.

Guch, I think Vegas Mike played that game by himself at home tonight.

  4. Kassi

28 second L-sits (not straight legs due to hamstring issues), 35 sec, 38 sec with varied scaling

69 wall-ball/burpees… did this solo because of an uneven # of people at the 0530.

Sally-16# for gals 20# for guys.

  5. Mike H

    27 seconds was best time.

Dynamic duo of Travis and myself scored 169

  6. DF Pete

Besf movie Fart scene. Vote for 1 or give your fill in entry.

    1) Blazzing Saddles sitting around the campfire eating beans

    2) Nutty Professor (Eddie Murphy) at the first family dinner

  7. Rich S.

30 seconds of hold…my tree trunks are too heavy

Pat and I got 189 as rx’d on the wallball/burpees…good times getting knocked around with the wallball

  8. Eric H.

A more recent, but equally memorable, Fart (I guess you capitalize it?) scene is Step Brothers when they’re interviewing at the high school…instant classic.

  9. Brian PCF

Has anybody played with GrooveShark.com? Any comparisons to Pandora.com?

For all you folks who I yell at about putting your thumbs around the bar (Drew, Pat, Drew, Vegas Mike, Drew), read this article.

The bar should never travel over the throat when benching unless you have a spotters hands on them. Spotter can let go when it is over the chest and when it is in the rack, but when it is traversing your face and throat, have a spotter holding on.

    Eric H,

That Step Brother’s scene is at an athletic store not the school.

Guys, Coach Greg Glassman is coming to CF Ocean City (Maryland) on Saturday, Oct 3, to present “Crossfit 101″. There are a few slots available, just email steve@crossfitocmd.com.

This is a terrific (and free) opportunity to get a ton of info, meet some other CFers, and talk to Coach. If we didn’t have Coach B’s cert this weekend, I would definitely be there.

    More info at:

  13. Aaron - PCF

    Scott Q.,

I’m looking in your direction …

    According to the Times:

This summer the unvarying male uniform in the precincts of Brooklyn cool has been a pair of shorts cut at knickers length, a V-neck Hanes T-shirt, a pair of generic slip-on sneakers and a straw fedora. Add a leather cuff bracelet if the coolster is gay.

  14. Kassi

    Brian,

I’m on the waiting list now. So can we find out who is signed up and get Spider Monkey to handle them? Please and thank you.

If I do get into the class, I’m offering a car pool complete with shameless Whitney Houston impersonations.

  15. Bob J

Ray and I got 118 Rxd. I agree with Rich, getting beat up by the med balls was a good time.

  16. John F

    L-sits (straight legs): 19, 19, 18

109 total reps of team wall ball/burpees with Bill.
Took a few throws to get the timing of this one right. During the first round I threw the wall ball a bit early once and it landed right next to Bill’s head while he was down in his push-up on the brick sidewalk; it would have been messy if I’d clocked him on the back of the head.

  17. Kassi

Has anyone heard of the Crossfit Mom website? (Drea, Eva, Sheila)??

    Link to my name.

  18. Kassi

HOLY CRAP! I’m in for the class! Anyone else make the cutoff?!

Words cannot express my excitement right now.

  19. Brian PCF

    Speaking of excitement…

Angsty Chick Rock fans rejoice, Paramore’s new album is out today:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MDgPKHuH08

No news on any new Liz Phair material… :(

None of these predilections make my music tastes gayer than Dan’s.

  20. Liz K

25 second L-sits (with my knees bent, i am not good at these)

    123 wall-ball/burpees… team lisa/liz

kassi you did awesome today! good thing you scaled up ;)

  21. Jon M

Olympic Lifting class at 7pm tonight. I’m out of town this Thursday and Saturday is the seminar so Olympic Lifting class is canceled those days.

  22. Guch

Speaking of Dan, where is he? I thought something was missing at the box in the last week or so. There has been this empty feeling residing over me, I just figured out why.

  23. Jon M

    Scott:

Here are the Taliban interviews we were talking about.

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/216235/page/1

  24. Lynette

Kassi – Crossfit moms? something you’re trying to tell us?

Erin B. – aren’t you glad you’re out of town for this WOD? your chin thanks you.

  25. Joe K.

1:11 (knees slightly bent, but not touching the ground; don’t know if that counts as Rx’d or not)

    Wallballs/burpees: 174 Rx’d (Team Curtis/Joe)

  26. Justin

Teamed with Lew this morning and got increasingly more each round as we figured out the wall ball timing. Don’t remember the total, but we averaged around 30/round and Lew really got us going the last round. I guess he was also getting annoyed at Keanne and Jen F for beating us by like 1 each round.

And the L-sits? Even if we count my bent legs as straight, I finished one, wrote down my score, complained that my abs hurt, got some water, chatted with Brian, checked my horoscope, walked back to the paralettes, and Jen F was *almost* done with her first. But that has absolutely nothing to do with my almost hitting her with a wall ball, I swear.

  27. Vegas Mike

Why Rich, you sound jealous, will no one play with you?
Every time I see you I think, “are those happy tissues or sad tissues?” you know what I saw at your place dont lie…….

  28. Vegas Mike

Sorry Kassi, SPIDERMONKEY has just been briefed on a new target……

  29. DanPCF

I’ve broken my board silence to convey this important message – “Say Hi” – Black Cat, DC, October 16th – I think they’re the opener for David Bazan . . . time well spent.

  30. Jenn Jett

DF Pete….how about the fart in Step Brothers at the end of the job interview?

  31. Mike C

    Teamed with Adam S

    192 RX’d

20 seconds longest, my counting may have been fast.

  32. Adam S.

    Teamed with Mike C.

    192 Rx’d

    14 sec longest

  33. Tes

still nursing this stupid cold so i’m taking a rest day after traveling… feels good to be home!

  34. Kassi

Lynette- not even a little bit funny.

  35. Cassidy

Anyone want to join matt, me, and a few friends to raft the Gauley river on Oct 11th? They release the dam over a few weekends in the fall. They are supposed to be class 5 rapids. Driving there on Sat morning the 10th, hiking and camping on Sat night and then doing the run on Sun the 11th (about a 5 hour run) If you’re interested, give me a call 703-371-3570 or email cginivan@gmail.com.

  36. Scott M

    John,
Thanks for posting the link to the article that we discussed yesterday. It was a fascinating read that has far reaching applications for the conduct of asymetrical operations and the cultural facets that must be understood to execute a counter insurgency. Great read, I owe you a beer for that one.

  37. Scott M

    Jon,
Sorry about mispelling your name I was typing that as my boss was berating me about a lack of professional conduct.

  38. Cindy

Cassidy! Have fun rafting the Gauley. What company are you using? If you are going with ACE, you should request Jeff Cogle as your guide, he has mad river skills, knows the river better than most the riff-raff that works Gauley Season and is simply downright awesome to hang with on a boat.

  39. Keanne

L-sit: 31 sec but legs not straight

    Team WOD with Jen F – 136

  40. Sally

    L Sit: 37 sec

Team WOD with Neda: 171 as Rx’d

  41. DF Pete

    L-sit: 23, 25, 15 (gassed on the third)

Team WOD with Sean: 183 burpees sucked towards the end of this!

  42. Cassidy

cindy- thanks for the suggestion! i already booked with NARR though, so hopefully we’ll luck into a good guide.

  43. Do More, Suck Less » Wall Ball Burpee Challenge

    [...] Andrew Maloney / Jared McQueen – 35 – 35 -35 -35 -35 = 175~ish.  Our counting was awful… [...]

  44. Jess

L sit: 24 then 27 (straight leg), 46 (not straight)

modified wod of push press/ring rows, 30 sec on, 30 sec off, 10 rds, 93 reps

  45. Susan

L-sit: scaled and held on for dear life for 30-45 secs

WOD: Teamed with Jenn and neither of us is very good at counting. But we totally dominated with the 12# ball.

    Etc.:
Congrats to Jenn on a first successful box jump!

Brian, I apologize for knocking a ceiling tile.

I hope that Guch has a vanity license plate. Otherwise, he has a crazy stalker who parks near the gym with a “Guch 1″ plate.

  46. Kelly

L-sit: 52 seconds with bent knees.

    Team WOD w/ Stacey: 124 as rx’ed

  47. Guch

    Susan,

That’s Rich S.’s car. I’ve been told he also has my picture on his computer as a screensaver.

    L Sit 50 sec. rx’d

    Team WOD 185

  48. Dave O

    L Sits: 34, 24, 27
    Wall-Balls/Burpees, teamed with Dan:
    35/33/31/25/25=149
Lingering sinus infection kicking my Arse. Not even wearing my prized “The Guch” shirt helped…

  49. TrickyDick

L-sit: dunno. I think my best time was something like ~50 seconds, my worst like about ~30. I did them all bent leg, so it doesn’t count anyway.

    WOD:

Teamed with Emily (who is AWESOME) and using a 16# ball, we managed to bust out 125 reps between us.

(Much props to Emily for retaining the ability to count during WOD.)

  50. JeremyB

Teamed with Kevin and knocked out 159 on the wall ball/burpee coordination test.
L sits were rough. Only a few seconds with straight-ish legs and then up to about 30 bent.

  51. Steven S

    Oly lifting:
Worked up to 155×3 jerk (which felt light …)

Then weighted pullups. Worked up to 45×3 pronated and 25×3 supinated grip pullups. Which is really kinda substandard.

  52. Kate

    L-sit: 34, 1:14, 29 (all with bent legs)

Team WOD with Lynette: 118 as Rx’d. First round was suspect due to intense laughter and pour counting. Awesome job, Lynette!

  53. Silent Assassin

Here are the CrossFit Seattle Athletic Skill Levels for the L-Sit:
    Level I: 10 seconds
    Level II: 30 seconds
    Level III: 1 minute
    Level IV: 1:30 minutes

L-sit: Didn’t hit my goal of 1 minute. I think my best was about 45 seconds.

Team WOD with Andre: 180. Good work, man!

Cassidy – I’ll be on the Gauley the same day with some coworkers from Rosetta Stone. Are you doing the upper or the lower? Maybe I’ll see you out there.

  54. Paul

L-sit with legs basically completely straight: 32 seconds

209 with B Wilkins…I think we may have screwed the counting up in the first round but our other rounds were pretty solid.

Also, checked out the new accessories and saw that there is now a tote and messenger bag option. However, I am concerned that Guch cannot get a PCF man-purse. Are those coming?

  55. Andre

Nice work on the Team WOD, Chris.

L-sit: 24 seconds… apparently way short of Level II. Eff me.

  56. Abi

30-30-30-30-30 = 150 reps (Teamed up with Scott)

I suck at burpees, not sure if there is any technique which can make one perform burpees faster ?

  57. Lynette

    L-sit: 1:11 1:15 1:38 (knees bent)

Burpees/Wallball: 118 as RXd with Kate.
We could’ve gone faster if I could count, laugh, and remember to burpee at the same time. Fun one! nice working with you, Kate!

  58. Kevin

L-Sits didn’t really happen. With legs bent- 25,25,34

Wall Ball/Burpees- 159 w/ Jeremy. This was tough.
