Did Monday’s WOD to avoid further shoulder injury:
AMRAP in 15 minutes
40 box jumps
400 m run
Exactly 4

Anyone else hardly able to move their legs from the last two days?
Looks like I am taking my first forced rest day in a long time…

Erika,
I was only giving you a hard time yesterday because Jon wasn’t there to. That, as well as the fact that it was almost too easy…Good outburst though.
Glad to have a rest day after a solid three days of programming. See everyone Friday.

Rich S-
The tabata hip extensions didn’t help afterwards.

How is Filet only a fourth seed? Obviously the meat bracket wasn’t put together by a true meat lover…

Just a note:
The reason I like these style sotts presses
1. It starts off more like a snatch balance which can only improve our snatches.
2. Sotts really work on our shoulder issues.

These both seemed risky with gimp shoulders, so I did:
400 m run
21 DL, 155#
400 m run
15 DL, 155#
400 m run
9 DL, 155#
12:41 (took the dead lifts slowly in sets of three, working on form)
Finished with 10-10-10-10 of 45# KB, and half an hour of yoga because Brian wasn’t there to tell me there’s no stretching in crossfit.

Dave’s right, Brian. I mean really, Scrapple beats Pork Tenderloin, in the first round!? Please. Scrapple’s not even meat. It’s what is left after all the meat is removed!

Alli –
After what I saw this afternoon, I’ll pay you to be my stretching coach any day. F— Brian and that PNF shit.
While I’m here:
TGUs: 35-35-40-45-53-70 (1/arm, mental failure seeing that thing above my face) – 70 (1/arm)
SP: 45(f)-15-35-45-55-65-75(1x)-75(1x)-70(finally got the form)
Is it bad that my Sotts Press is the same as my TGU? I vote for overhead squats sometime soon…

So after the WOD Brian had us try for our max box jump height. I have had a huge metal block since not so gracefully falling on my ass during foundations and had been sticking to using 4 45 lb plates.
Sometime the little things are the best! I did a real box jump.
Sounds silly -(I can do so many other things that should be more difficult) but you would have thought I had just won a prize….and I am still smiling.
Now on to the next challenge…

I could not do the sotts press due to shoulder flexibility.

Lynette – do not talk smack about scrapple lest you wish to incur the wrath of Seamus. He literally has a t-shirt that says simply: “I Heart Scrapple”. It is his favorite t-shirt behind his “My Little Pony” one.
Justin – so what if Alli has better flexibility and is overall more pleasant to be around than me. Does she have pithy comments like mispronouncing Pilates on purpose? Like saying “Yogurt” instead of “Yoga”?
I rest my case.

probably could have done a little more, but quit while I was ahead. skipped sotts press (shoulder).
got on top of the 30″ box after the WOD, for the first time… erin, don’t feel shamed. i couldn’t do a regular one at first either. we learned tonight, more than ever, that it’s all in your head!
alli and justin, any time you need a hand battling off yoga doubters, let me know. unenlightened fools.

TGU’s — 30,34,45,53,53#’s
Sotts — 55,65,85,105(f),95(f)
Max box jump — tall box plus 5 45 plates. Failed (read, fell on my ass) with 6 plates. All attempts were standing, no steps.
March 27th, 2009 on 9:33 am
Did max standing shoulder press yesterday at home.
190! PR by 10 lbs!
Been meaning to do this for a quite a while. Finally can SP more than my body weight (albeit only about 2 pounds more right now :O)
