    YES!!!

I’m bringing my 2-ply denim bench shirt for this one.

This is too late for some, but I would say that if you can do 165 for all three sets unbroken, feel free to raise the weight to something heavier that you can do for 2-3 sets unbroken.

If you are scaling down, scale to something you can do the first set unbroken.

If you don’t scale, it will become obvious if you should have and change things up on the run.

Good weight for me. Did 1st set unbroken then did 2×5 for sets 2,3,4 and then did 5-3-2(with a tiny lift from gabe on #10). For those going this evening, don’t get to failure too early or you won’t be able to recover.

My 3RM for bench is 75#, so I scaled to 60# and was happy with that. In the final set I had to rest the bar between the last 3 reps. Thanks for the spotting Liz!

  6. Simple Jack

185# for three sets of the bench- 165# for last two-

Did KTE instead of SU bc of injury, but mistakenly subbed 20 KTE for 20 SU on first set. So subbed 10 KTE for 20 SU during rounds 2-5

This WOD was awesome. Great programming Aaron. I probably should’ve scaled up to 185 with Simple Jack, but it worked out in the end. Did my first 3 sets of bench unbroken, 4th was 2×5, 5th was 5,3,2. Equally awesome was going head to head in the third heat with everyone watching. I’m pumped for sectionals.

Scaled to 50 or 55 could have gone to 65 probably

Good to be humbled by the bench for a second straight weekend…

Great job by everyone at the 10…really good efforts

First time benching in over a year, and even then I had only benched a handful of times. Followed the tips on the correct way to bench and this didn’t bother my shoulder at all, but am definitely weak from not training this in so long. First set was unbroken, the rest I broke at either 7 or 5.

Did the first two bench sets unbroken then the wheels came off in the third. Did sets of 4, 3 and by the last rounds, 5 sets of 2. The squats and situps were unbroken and really just a rest from the bench.

  12. Caitlin

10:47 with 75#. Probably should have gone heavier as I did all sets unbroken. live and learn.

    16:00 @ 95#

I hope we do more Bench like this in metcons (atleast on weekends when you don’t have the same time crunch and need to run 3 heats)

For people who haven’t done much bench before crossfit, there is a pretty steep learning curve on this movement….

I feel overhead press is a good supplement but not the full substitute to bench…

Great job Chriss and Max and thanks for all the motivation !!

9:38 rx’d…felt better on the bench this time.

  16. Mike C

9:20something I think; forgot to write it down

-went up to 185# and hit complete muscle failure halfway through the last set so bumped down to 165 the last 5 reps.

  17. Mike C

probably a couple suspect reps since Chris K was probably worried I might drop the bar on my neck in rounds 4 and 5

Yeah Mike, you were definitely pushing yourself to failure, which is cool, but I didn’t want that to end in decapitation. Good work, man.

Did 45# on the bench–this was definitely too light, because I did everything unbroken except the last 2 reps in the last round. But this was only the third time I ever bench pressed, and I’m just finally feeling comfortable with the movement.

Great programming, Aaron, and great job corralling the huge 5 PM class, Ryan!

    10:54 @85#. Round 1 went great. 4 and 5 however…

    good efforts by everyone.

    Gabe you’re safe

    9:34 at 185.

Fantastic WOD, one of my favorites. Thank you PCF.

  24. Gabe

I thought my beer muscles were untouchable until I saw Chriss’ time. Crisci and Mark, you guys freaking killed it at 185. And for the record, if either of you had done this at 165, you would’ve been done sub 8.

  25. Lazy, Candy-Eating Drunk

Thought I would be able to do this rx’d. Nope. This wod really sucked!
First round was at 105, second and third was 95, 4th and fifth I went down to 85 lbs.
took me 15 minutes even. that sucked!

  26. Mike S

Started at 105, dropped to 95 by 3rd/4th, and 85 by 5th. 12:35 total time.
