This looks sick. Would cleans be a good replacement for Push-Jerk for me wise coaches?
Also, I just put up a bunch of pics from today’s WOD and Thursdays pull-up WOD on facebook. Friend me if we’re not friends already! Emma Moburg-Jones.
January 24th, 2009 on 10:17 pm
Yes, cleans would be a fine sub for this Emma. Great job on the WOD today (yesterday, whenever) by the way. I was going through the video, we need to loosen you up on your jump rope a little bit, I think you were trying to muscle it a little too much. Good intensity though, and that sub you did looked like it sucked!
January 24th, 2009 on 10:52 pm
Yes, it did suck! But thank you
I’m going to email you because I need your full name, address and phone number. I’ll explain later

Started my way back into CF today. After a long layoff, what could be better than my own made-up punish myself with burpees workout?

Welcome back Frizz!

This one was pretty tough, but fun. Had to scale the weight pretty quickly. And I didn’t think the pushups would make that much of a difference, but I was dead wrong. I had to partition the pushups more than the push jerks.

So I’m at my school’s gym last night doing DL’s (because that’s what I like to do on Saturday nights).
Due to lack of free space at the power rack stations, I take a bar from a bench press station and load it up in front of the bench to do my lift. Note: every other flat bench in the gym is empty.
I’m warmed up and at my working weight when I’m approached by an undergraduate.
The situation as it occurred breaks down like this:
UNDERGRAD: [mumbles something]
SEAMUS: [turns off ipod] excuse me?
UNDERGRAD: would you mind moving this, so I could work in?
SEAMUS: [confusion] Are you shitting me? (pause) I’ve got 300+ pounds here. Where exactly would you like me to move it?
[Sound of crickets]
UNDERGRAD: Uumm..so you do mind?
SEAMUS: Yes I do. [turns on ipod and complete set]
UNDERGRAD: [waits until I turn away, and begins to use the bench]
SEAMUS: [turns off ipod] What did I just say?
UNDERGRAD: [non-reply and walks away]
SEAMUS: [complete second set]
UNDERGRAD’S GOOFY FRIEND: Uumm..do you mind if I work in?
SEAMUS: I’ll tell you the same thing I just told your friend. I’ll be done in 3 minutes. I do mind if you work in.
UNDERGRAD’S GOOFY FRIEND: Ooh. OK.
I hate my gym

That happens to me every time I’m doing 300 lb deadlifts too.

loved today’s WOD.

Jen, your KB workshop was awesome today. I really learned a lot. Thanks to Aviv(sp?) and Drea too! Is it possible to get a list of the moves we went over? I should have brought a notebook but didn’t.
As far as commenting on the Affiliate page…I typed out about 4 different comments, but when I re-read them before posting, they all made me sound like a big pervert. Needless to say I won’t be leaving any messages, but I do think that PCF Women are strong and beautiful.

Same story with pushups and overhead as usual…
January 25th, 2009 on 8:40 pm
This was a good workout. I am definitely seeing improvements in ovhd strength and endurance. Two months ago, this would probably have been logged as twice the length of time or even DNF.
7:15 scaled up on the PJ’s and push ups. Nice call from John M.
January 25th, 2009 on 8:49 pm
Great work to everyone tonight – saw a lot of push jerks where normally there would have been push presses
Did it after you guys left, started out at 125# for the first two rounds, then down to 115# . . . 12+11. Push ups – atrocious – the work on this will continue (I’m going to run out of bad adjectives). Push Jerks were moving up pretty well, but I was not “holding” them well at all in a locked overhead . . . just crumpled a couple of times . . . am going to have to get that diagnosed. Next time I should try to rest with the bar in the rack position – lost tons of time picking the bar up and down – but it was a fun clean workout . . .

Push jerks (scaled 75#)

Need to get more comfortable with the push jerk movement (instead of like a push press) before loading more weight. I definitely underestimated the pushups.

As usual the pushups were killing me, and I rocked the overhead. After a 2 sets of 10 and a set of 5 in the first round of pushups, it was all 2’s and 3’s for the rest of the WOD. I did 5 reps at a time with for the first three jerk rounds and 4 reps at a time for the last.
