    I wanted to share a Crossfit success story with you all. Jen and Aaron, I know I mentioned to both of you that I was running the Disney Marathon today with the goal of proving that Crossfit alone was enough training even for endurance events. While I have run marathons in past and ran one in October, I did not run more than a Crossfit WOD for the last 2 months.

    Today, I was able to break my personal best by 20 minutes and run my first sub 4 hr marathon. I attribute it completely to Crossfit’s ability to give me a stronger overall core limiting my aches and pains but also the crossfit mentality of stopping for a second and “getting back on that bar”. Thanks to all the coaches and athletes for helping me do this. Can’t wait to get back to the box.

    That’s great rich. Sub 4 hours is a goal some people work for their whole life. Glad we could help. As the spring and summer approach I hope to do some more races, though of course not train for them other than CF.

    Rich, absolutely amazing!!!

    And huge kudos to everyone at the 11 am, especially Boston Mike with his muscle ups! I managed an 18:20 on this WOD with kipping pull ups, 95# clean and unassisted ring dips the first round, and the rest with the tan band.

    I doubt that the jumping bar MU’s are a legit scale, but they were hard enough on my shoulder that I felt it, but easy enough that I could finish the WOD. As Always I took too many breaks.

    I celebrated with chicken fried steak. As the Capitol Barbell guys told while I was bitching about my poor performance yesterday, “155lb jerk wouldn’t be very heavy if you weighed 240lbs.” An excellent point. I might just have to shoot for 205 or so, but we’ll see how it goes.

    Mike – Well, you need to have a facebook profile (which you should already have if you’ve been living in the last century). Then you just search for people on facebook with my name (I’m obviously the only one with this weird ass name) and “request my friendship.” I’ll accept and then we can be BESTIES and you can see all of the photo albums I have up. I plan to put an album up for every WOD with the name of the WOD and the date next to it.

    Did the 21 pullups with the green band. I think this is the most pullups I have ever done with the green band in a WOD. For this many pullups I would normally do jumping. Speaking of jumping, that’s how I did the ring dips and used 115 on the cleans. On the first set of squats I managed to do the first 25 unbroken which is definitely a PR!

    This was the first time hang power cleans felt natural, like maybe I’m getting the “hang” of them.

    I am glad we can all agree that ring dips were created by the devil. I’m pretty sure there is a fifth horseman of the apocalypse: death, famine, pestilence, war, and ring dips.

    I was also doing sets of 2 and 3 at the end. And I did chest to bar pull-ups the whole way which meant I was reduced to sets of 3 on pull-ups at the end which hasn’t happened to me since 2005. Nice. It would have been faster if I did muscle ups, but as this workout made clear, it’s more important I work on ring dips and chest to bar pull-ups.

    17:23 or some such thing. Even managed to do the last set of power cleans unbroken, so it’s really just the dips/pull-ups.
