Tes Salb
I was introduced to CrossFit in late 2006 and earned my Level 1 Certification in the middle of 2007. Since that time I have completed CrossFit certifications in Running and Endurance Sports and Olympic Lifting, as well as multiple workshops with outside organizations in a vast array of sports and specialties. I have been published in the CrossFit Journal (also featured on www.NavySeals.com) and have competed in the 2008 and 2009 CrossFit Games. As a trainer I have coached a number of athletes to achieve their goals including marathon, ultramarathon, adventure racing and triathlon finishes, as well as military assignments.
In my youth I was highly involved in dance and was introduced to multi-sports in my early teens through Modern Pentathlon (shooting, fencing, swimming, running and horseback riding). This experience allowed me to compete in the 1995 US Olympic Festival where I placed 6th in individual competition and helped my team to a 4th place finish. This then led me to a top three collegiate fencing team at the University of Notre Dame where I fenced both epee and foil. In 1998 I earned a birth on the US Shooting Team to compete in the Atlanta, Munich and Milan World Cups, and World Shooting Championships where I earned a world ranking of 30th. Two years later I placed 10th in the US Olympic Trials in air pistol and by the end of my collegiate shooting career had earned a silver medal in the 2000 NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships and received consecutive NRA First Team All-American honors in 2000 and 2001. It was through these experiences that I received top-notch coaching from World Record holders, as well as coaches and medalists of the Olympic Games including two-time Olympic coach Dr. Nicholas Romanov (founder of POSE). After college I filled my love of multi-sports with adventure racing and triathlons, having completed Ironman USA (Lake Placid) in 2006. I am currently pursuing my Olympic aspirations by training for the 2012 Games in shooting.
CrossFit was a natural fit with my background. It is forever changing and evolving and keeps me challenged both physically and mentally. The community is full of top-notch athletes and coaches who are always willing to help push and motivate you to the next level no matter your experience.
My goal as a trainer is to help people reach their full athletic potential be it recreationally or professionally. With my level of competitive experience, I have witnessed the benefit of psychology in sports and the power of mental toughness. Through a combination of challenging athletes to reach their goals in CrossFit and building a strong mind I have seen my clients overcome what they had once thought impossible.
