What exactly does being fit/healthy mean? Looking good in a bathing suit? Getting a good check-up from your doctor? Lifting heavy weights? Running a marathon? All of them? Some of them? A few years ago, I thought I knew the answer to this question. I was, in my mid 20’s, pretty strong for my size, and utterly convinced I was “fit” and “healthy”. After all, I ran track and played soccer through high school and early college and had been lifting weights at the neighborhood Gold’s Gym since I was a teenager. Fast forward a few years and at age 31, my fitness regiment had become stale and boring. I was still “strong” or at least I thought I was (I could bench press over 300 lbs). However, I couldn’t do more than 3 pull-ups, could not run a 5k if my life depended on it, and was roughly 25 pounds overweight. I needed a change and was desperately looking for something else. I was tired of the gym, of the same thing every day. I missed the competition of sports and the camaraderie of teammates. It was at this point that I was introduced to crossfit and my life changed completely. Today, I’ve lost the 25 pounds, am stronger now than I ever was before, and completed my first marathon back in 2008. Most important though, for the first time in years, I enjoy working out again. If you are looking for a fun, competitive, supportive environment, and you are ready to get in the best shape of your life, trust me…this is it! I have been crossfitting for almost 5 years now. I am a Level 1 certified crossfit coach and also hold certifications in Olympic Lifting, Kettle Bells, and Running & Endurance. I competed in the Crossfit Games in 2009 on the PCF Affiliate team and numerous local crossfit competitions. I would love to help you reach your fitness goals and invite you to give us a try and take a sip of the Kool-Aid. It will be the best decision you ever made!
