I never called myself an athlete. I’m competitive by nature, but I was never in sports. I did some martial arts, but I had to recruit the high school football coach to prepare me for the West Point fitness test. My type A ego drove me to run, push up, and sit up for the top scores in school and the Army, but I felt that was too forced to be real fitness or sport. I did some sprint triathlons while stationed in Hawaii, but I couldn’t get the swim down so that wasn’t really for me either. What keeps me attracted to CrossFit is that I don’t have to specialize in limited areas to see improvements across the board. There is no routine or boredom yet I’m stronger and healthier than ever. I may not claim a sport, but I love working and working out with the team of CrossFitters at PCF.
