Chad Pierce

chad-bigI used to love sports but hate exercise.  Thanks to Crossfit, I now love both, and I’m better at sports as a result.  After high school, I joined the military and spent fiveyears on long, slow, distance running — along with pushups and situps — which gave me the illusion that I was in really good physical condition.  A few years of relative inactivity followed my enlistment because I had grown to hate exercise and was no longer forced to do  it.  I was under the impression that one had to work out for a couple hours a day — and it had to be boring and monotonous (run, run, run, run) — to be in shape, so I just didn’t do it.

Since I started Crossfit in August 2008, my view of fitness has changed dramatically.  Most importantly, I enjoy exercising again. I am in the best shape of my life. I continue to reach higher levels of fitness regularly and was proud to compete in the 2009 Crossfit Games Affiliate Cup with Potomac CrossFit. I’m into rock climbing, parkour, surfing, and dominating “feats of strength” events at family functions.  I also spend a lot of my spare time going after the ever-elusive clapping handstand pushup.  To put it simply, Crossfit has changed my life, and I love sharing knowledge I’ve gathered with anyone who is willing to give it a shot.
